Trujillo is located just over 40 km from Montánchez. This small town has many attractions and is on the list of “The most beautiful towns in Spain”. It is a cozy town with monumental houses surrounding the busy main square, the Plaza Mayor. In this square there is a large equestrian statue of Francisco Pizarro, born in Trujillo. Pizarro owes his fame to his victories over the Incas, after which he founded Lima, the current capital of Peru. If you walk any of its many streets; the castle, the imposing walls and a magnificent view of the city and its surroundings, await you. In Trujillo there is also an interesting cheese and wine museum. Every year, at the beginning of May, a cheese festival is held with cheeses from all over Spain. The city is definitely worth a visit.
